Buying a house in Windsor West or renting is hard.  Rental places are hard to find, and when you do the rent is so much you can not save enough to buy a house. And banks will not lend because most of their income goes to rent.  It is a vicious cycle.  Under the Liberal Government we have seen the housing market explode.  Young couples and students face an uphill battle when it comes to homeownership. Despite having stable incomes and proving they can afford high monthly rent payments, banks often deny them mortgages due to strict lending criteria, high down payment requirements, and rising interest rates.  And what young couple can afford a house at the present market rates?  Many are stuck in a cycle where they pay more in rent than they would for a mortgage, yet they can’t qualify for a loan. The solution lies in policy changes, such as re-evaluating lending requirements to consider rental payment history, increasing first-time homebuyer incentives, expanding access to affordable housing programs, and encouraging the development of lower-cost homes. Without meaningful change, an entire generation risks being locked out of homeownership, unable to build equity or financial security for the future.  This is not what I want for my kids, and I am sure you do not want it for yours.
