THE TRUTH ABOUT CANADA’S GUN BAN
đź”´ LEGAL gun owners are NOT the problem. đź”´
Farmers. Hunters. Sport shooters. Olympians. Responsible citizens.
Yet, the Liberal government’s gun ban is targeting YOU instead of fixing the REAL issue: illegal guns flooding in from the U.S.
🚨 FACT CHECK: 🚨
âś… Legal firearms owners undergo strict background checks & safety training.
✅ Criminals don’t follow gun laws—they use ILLEGAL weapons.
âś… CBSA officers are fighting an uphill battle against weapons & drugs crossing our borders.
👉 Why is this happening?
Because instead of securing our borders, the Liberals are scrambling to cover up their failure—while we get threatened by President Trump over Canada’s lack of border security.
đź’Ą WINDSOR NEEDS REAL LEADERSHIP. đź’Ą
For 23 YEARS, Windsor West has been stuck with an NDP MP in a minority government.
That means NO real influence in Parliament. If we want real change, we need an MP in a majority government who will fight for:
🔹 STRONGER border security to stop illegal guns & drugs.
🔹 PROTECTING legal gun owners from unfair bans.
🔹 COMMON-SENSE policies that keep Canadians safe.

LIBERALS BAN ON GUNS
Liberals said:Â We would also continue to combat gender-based violence and fight gun smuggling with measures we have introduced.
Response:Â Â
All crimes in Windsor involving illegal guns, young offenders, home invasions. Including domestic violence incidents. The numbers are startling and this is only a small sample of crimes being committed by ILLEGAL GUNS.

Liberals:Â Lifetime background checks to prevent those with a history of abuse against their spouse or partner from obtaining a firearms license.
Response:Â Â Domestic Violence went up during the pandemic because of lockdowns:Â https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/paiyton-pick-intimate-partner-violence-1.7461691
“Red flag” laws that would allow immediate removal of firearms if that person is a threat to themselves or others, particularly to their spouse or partner.
Response:Â If this law was in place, the devastating tragedy in Nova Scotia would never have happened.Â
Increased maximum penalties for firearms trafficking and smuggling from 10 to 14 years imprisonment.
Response:Â Canada is seeing a lot of catch and release of criminals involving guns. This will be a high priority in the next Conservative Government.
Enhancing the capacity of the RCMP and the Canada Border Services Agency to combat the illegal importation of firearms.
Response: The Trump Tariffs are a result of our weak border. But Canada must take the responsibility for the guns and drugs that are coming FROM the USA. What do the Liberals mean by “enhancing the capacity?” Will they hire more border control officers, train more? In September of 2025 we will have yet another border crossing (3 in total) and it is MY HIGHEST priority to make Windsor, Ontario safer
Trudeau and the Liberals say:Â Conservatives do not support these reasonable and important measures and will weaken protections that currently keep Canadians safe.
Response: After 9 years of Liberal leadership our borders are no longer safe. Our CBSA agents are suffering under extreme work pressure. Their mental health needs to be addressed, as Windsor experienced a terrible tragedy with a CBSA agent. We need more border officers especially since the Gordie Howe Bridge (started by the Conservatives) will be opened in September 2025

The Liberal Gun Ban: A Comprehensive Overview
The Liberal Government’s Gun Ban in Canada
In May 2020, the Liberal government in Canada, led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, introduced a sweeping ban on over 1,500 models of “assault-style” firearms. This move came in response to the tragic mass shooting in Nova Scotia earlier that year, which claimed 22 lives. The ban was framed as a measure to enhance public safety and reduce gun-related violence, with the government asserting that there was no place for military-grade firearms in civilian hands. Since then, the Liberals have expanded their gun control efforts, including proposed legislation such as Bill C-21, which aimed to freeze handgun sales and implement stricter firearm regulations. However, while the intent of the ban was to curb gun crime, it has had unintended consequences for farmers, sport shooters, and legal firearm owners across the country.
For Canadian farmers, the firearm ban has posed significant challenges. Many rural residents rely on rifles and shotguns to protect their livestock from predators such as coyotes, wolves, and bears. While most hunting rifles and shotguns were not directly affected by the initial ban, concerns remain about potential future restrictions and bureaucratic hurdles that make it harder to acquire and use these tools for farm management. Additionally, some semi-automatic rifles that were commonly used by farmers were included in the ban, leaving them with fewer options. Farmers argue that they are being unfairly targeted, as they follow strict licensing and storage regulations, and their use of firearms is necessary for their livelihood rather than criminal intent.
Olympic and competitive sport shooters have also been significantly impacted by the firearm ban. Canada has a long history of excellence in shooting sports, with athletes competing at the highest levels in events such as the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games. However, many of the firearms used in international competitions fall under the banned categories, making it difficult for Canadian athletes to train and compete. While the government has proposed exemptions for elite sport shooters, the restrictions have created additional barriers, including difficulties in acquiring, transporting, and maintaining their equipment. This has raised concerns that Canada’s presence in competitive shooting may decline as a result of the regulations, putting aspiring athletes at a disadvantage on the world stage.
Legal firearm owners, who have already undergone extensive background checks, training, and licensing requirements, feel disproportionately affected by the ban. Many of these individuals use firearms for hunting, sport shooting, and personal collection. They argue that the government’s measures unfairly target law-abiding citizens rather than addressing the root causes of gun violence, such as illegal firearms smuggled across the U.S.-Canada border. Critics also point to the high cost of the firearm buyback program, which compensates owners for their banned weapons, as an ineffective use of taxpayer money. Some legal gun owners believe that the government’s approach is more about political optics than public safety, as there is little evidence linking legally owned firearms to rising crime rates.
Overall, the Liberal government’s gun ban has been a contentious issue in Canada, drawing praise from those advocating for stricter gun control while generating frustration among farmers, athletes, and legal firearm owners. The debate continues, with opponents calling for a more targeted approach that focuses on illegal guns and criminal activity rather than sweeping bans that impact law-abiding citizens. As the government moves forward with further gun control measures, the balance between public safety and individual rights remains a deeply polarizing topic in Canadian politics.
Impact on Farmers: A Closer Look
The Liberal Ban on guns in Canada presents unique challenges for farmers, whose livelihoods often depend on the ability to manage wildlife and protect their crops and livestock. Without access to firearms, farmers face increased risks from predators and pests, potentially leading to significant economic losses. Additionally, the ban complicates the daily operations of farms, where quick and effective responses to threats are crucial for maintaining productivity and safety.
Beyond economic concerns, the ban raises questions about personal safety for those living in rural areas. Farmers, who frequently work in isolated environments, rely on firearms not only for protection against wildlife but also as a means of ensuring personal security. The new regulations necessitate a reevaluation of safety protocols and may require farmers to seek alternative, potentially less effective, solutions to safeguard their families and properties.
Olympians' Concerns
Impact on Training and Competition
For Canadian Olympians, the Liberal gun ban presents significant challenges. Many athletes rely on specific firearms for their training and international competitions. The restrictions could hinder their ability to practice effectively, potentially affecting their performance on the world stage. The ban has sparked a dialogue about finding a balance between national safety and supporting athletes in their pursuit of excellence.
